Lunch & Learn by team karin burger & friends:
- Virtual sessions on socially relevant topics
- with outstanding keynotes
- professionally streamed
- and plenty of room for exchange
Since 2020, we have been holding a virtual Lunch & Learn session once a month in which we address current and socially relevant topics.
Let’s be honest: we don’t need speakers – we need doers! But: A really good presentation switches on the light in your head – and it never goes out.
Our speakers are terrific on stage – and wonderful storytellers. They are multi-talented. They share their passion as researchers, journalists, strategists, founders and entrepreneurs. As musicians, actors, magicians, poets and filmmakers. They are also presenters, trainers, consultants and coaches. You name it! With these people, your events will become events that people will talk about for a long time to come. If you are looking for a great keynote for your next event, you can find topics and speakers here:

Lunch & Learn: “Speak like a Speaker” – get fit for your own conference appearance! | Gerriet Danz
Well – as great as our speakers are, they are just as unpopular as pre-speakers. “This is going to be very difficult for me!” … is what many internal speakers from the host’s circle think. Managers, directors, board members – they often speak after our speakers and feel insecure in their role as speakers. They experience our professionals who captivate and inspire the audience. At the same time, you realize that your own presentation cannot do exactly that.
Keynotes: Gerriet Danz
Head of Streaming: Thorsten Jekel
Speak like a Speaker ...
So that you no longer have to be afraid when a professional appears before or after you in the future, we have developed “Speak like a speaker” with our speaker and rhetoric coach Gerriet Danz – a workshop to which we cordially invite you on 24.05.24 as part of our virtual Lunch & Learn series:
“Speak like a Speaker” – how to convince at your own conference.
Every speaker can speak both meaningfully and remarkably, can inspire, motivate, convince and carry people away.
How does that work? Gerriet Danz shows us the five most important factors that transform a presentation into an eye-catcher and an ear-catcher, making the difference between “snore” and “wow”. And not just at conferences and events, but also at “normal” business presentations and pitches.
What you will learn in a nutshell:
- Why messages are more important than topics.
- How the expert differs from the slide show guide.
- How to differentiate yourself from 84 percent of all presenters.
- How you present your quarterly figures as excitingly as if it were a Netflix series.
- What’s behind neuro-basics, bondage tricks, body culture, changing words and adrenaline detour.
In this session, you will experience live rhetoric coaching and learn unusual strategies to effectively represent your opinion and the interests of your company. The KREATORIK© method developed by Gerriet Danz will turn your presentations into creative fireworks in the future, make stage fright your friend and make your conference contribution more fun and therefore even more successful.
Lunch & Learn: Enthusiasm for the earth! How can ecological change succeed?
How can we promote ecological change in the economy? What fuels it? Sustainability expert Tina Teucher will be discussing these questions with the two renowned professors Ernst Ulrich von Weizsäcker and Christoph Quarch at our virtual Lunch & Learn on April 25, 2024 – 25 years after the publication of their joint book “A New Policy for the Earth. The global partnership of economy and ecology.”
Keynotes: Christoph Quarch and Ernst Ulrich von Weizsäcker
Moderation: Tina Teucher
Head of Streaming: Thorsten Jekel
Enthusiasm for the earth ...
Why are we having such a hard time with ecological change? Is it due to a lack of knowledge or a lack of political will? Philosopher and keynote speaker Christoph Quarch thinks it is due to a lack of enthusiasm! His latest book “Awakening the spirit of Europe. 10 proposals.” offers bold solutions for an economically attractive, sustainable and socially balanced Europe. Under Ernst von Weizsäcker’s leadership, climate change, political upheavals and economic bottlenecks were already the focus of work at the Wuppertal Institute – an international scientific think tank in the field of sustainability research – 30 years ago.
Following the opening keynote, the two famous thought leaders will talk to sustainability expert and presenter Tina Teucher about what action makes sense and is feasible today.
What you will learn in a nutshell:
- How we can get enthusiastic about ecology and sustainability
- What we can learn from our ancient ancestors in terms of sustainability and rethinking
- How transformation processes succeed – and how they fail
- When enthusiasm can bring about real change
- How we can use positive visions to overcome crises constructively
- What re-renaissance we need for European politics and society
Lunch & Learn: Change-Joy-Balance – Crisis-proof and connected in wild times.
What is a reverse keynote? In this session, we’ll be presenting you with something completely new on the speaker market:
A reverse keynote is a type of presentation where the audience has control over the content. First, there will be a short impulse on a topic that moves us all: “How we can become crisis-proof and connected in wild times.” In the meantime, we will collect everything that concerns you about the impulses and Katrin and Carl – in this case digitally, of course. (This also works on the real stage!) From then on, you’ll be in charge. Katrin and Carl tailor their content directly to your questions and wishes. Why can this work? Because both are absolute experts in their fields and flexibility is part of their self-image.
Keynotes: Katrin Hansmeier and Dr. Carl Naughton
Head of Streaming: Thorsten Jekel
Change-Joy-Balance ...
In times of change, it is important that we maintain our joy and find our balance. This is the only way we can remain crisis-proof and feel connected to others.
Whether it’s professional challenges, personal changes or global crises – we have the opportunity to change our perspective and make the best of every situation. This allows us to remain capable of action and successful. It is important that we support each other and stick together in wild times. By sharing our experiences and learning from each other, we can grow and develop together. “I still remember a time when I was confronted with a major change. Instead of being overwhelmed by fear and uncertainty, I decided to see the challenge as an opportunity. I found that I can rise above myself in moments like this and discover new strengths.”
Current events show us time and again how important it is to embrace change and remain flexible. The world around us is constantly changing and we must learn to react flexibly and with courage for the future. This works better with ease.
Katrin Hansmeier and Dr. Carl Naughton accompany us on this journey and explore the audience’s questions and topics with us in small exercises and digital interactions from a perspective that is both humorous and practical. They will talk about their own crises and how they successfully overcame them with their tools. Let’s get into a playful and creative conversation with the reverse keynote!
What you will learn in a nutshell:
- Tools for more ease and strength in times of crisis
- Why the ability to improvise is a core competence in these times
- How to be successful and crisis-proof with improvisation
- Why the technique of “marginal wins” can generate confidence in crises
- How you can develop confidence in a targeted way
- Create trust & connection, no matter where you are
Lunch & Learn: #MutOffensive – A compass in times of opportunity.
Are you already there? At the last Lunch & Learn on January 18, we proclaimed the “Year of COURAGE” with 380 guests.
One thing has become clear to us: If you want to be courageous, you need a lot of strength. Power of implementation, innovative strength and future strength. And the right tools. We are therefore launching the next evolutionary stage of the CourageOffensive on 29.02.2024. We ask the question: Does only pressure create change? How can we support or even ensure the success of innovation in SMEs, banks and start-ups? How can we help people overcome innovation hurdles?
Keynotes: Prof. Leonhard Zintl, Dr. Benjamin Zeitler, Prof. Alex Knauer, Dr. Julia Breßler
Expert moderation: Bert Helbig
MutOffensive - A compass in times of opportunity
Behind the MutOffensive are four likeable and very successful experts from Mittweida in Saxony. From their day-to-day work, the four know about the driving force of courage, enabling and empowerment for innovation work and transformation. With the CourageOffensive , they are setting their compass towards “times of opportunity”. Their aim is to encourage people and companies undergoing transformation to take the next necessary steps and enjoy shaping their own future: Future? Just do it!
What you will learn in a nutshell:

- How do we become courageous in order to use the fear of implementation in a positive way?
- How can we insist on simplicity?
- Which tools support the implementation?
- How do we deal with people who are disenchanted with technology?
- How can science help for the future?
- Is pressure a good way to inspire people?
- How can we use the four forces of courage?
- How can we take the first step?
Lunch & Learn: Dare to be courageous! Seeing and sowing the good in 2024 – We are the Restoration Generation!
We want to start 2024 with the question: What will guide us in the new year? “Have the courage to use your own mind“, suggested the German philosopher Immanuel Kant as a guiding principle. There is only one thing the “professor of logic and metaphysics” has not recognized: Your own mind can be very limited! Being courageous therefore means daring to look beyond the edges of your own plate. Listening to your feelings. To strengthen your trust in yourself. “Dare to be wise.” With this in mind, our guest Johannes Warth invites us in his virtual keynote to embark on a journey full of amazement, laughter and movement in 2024 with a mixture of wordplay and underlying valuable messages. As an “encourager” by trade, he will tell exciting stories and share useful tools to train your courage muscle. He is a terrific speaker. We are proud to have him as our guest.
Keynotes: Tina Teucher & Johannes Warth
More about Dare to be brave! ...
In this lesson, we reflect on what it is worth being courageous for. Our sustainability expert Tina Teucher will show you incredibly moving examples of people who are transforming places of despair into places of hope. Because we can all play a part in rebuilding hope: We are the Restoration Generation! Together, we will gather thoughts, stories and design tips for an encouraging year 2024. And, as always, all in a compact hour of “courage muscle training”.
It’s about FAIR CHANGE – because sometimes things turn out differently than you think!
But: What SUCCEEDS for you? We want to send you all off into the “Year of Courage” with ease. Because courage can be trained.
What you will learn in a nutshell:
- How we move from despair to hope.
- #genR – Why we are all part of the “Generation Restoration” – and what that means for us.
- Which tools can be used to implement fresh courage for 2024.
- What “Leadership 2024” means.
- Which form of courage suits you:
- There is conscious and unconscious COURAGE.
- MUTation is possible or
- Courage can be learned.
Leadership & Resilience – How Do We Benefit Ki? Best as Ik! As an intelligent colleague!
Everyone is talking about data and AI. There has never been so much hype about new technologies and the associated paradigm shift. Experts believe that almost all professions will undergo profound change – in the next five years! How do you deal with this as a manager? How do you surf around in the high-tech world without being a tech geek yourself? And above all, how do you get hold of the freaks you need now more than ever, according to the motto: BBB “Procure, Bind, Boost?”
Keynotes: Cornélia Findeisen, Thorsten Jekel & Tom Friedländer
More about leadership & resilience ...
Cornélia Findeisen gives some honest and fresh answers from her experience as a top manager, especially in the field of digital talent. She explains why you don’t have to become a tech freak yourself (unless you want to), but also why you won’t be able to avoid turning old truths on their head and redefining yourself as a leader. But don’t worry, it’s possible and it’s even fun! Thorsten Jekel shows us in his presentation how AI tools can really make your life as a leader easier. Hands-on. For beginners & professionals! You will receive a very valuable list of AI tools, all of which Thorsten has already tested and approved. You will then know where to start – or how to proceed with AI in your company! Tom Friedländer leads us through the lesson as musical C-Host on the piano. Find out what music has to do with AI and resilience on this pre-Christmas Thursday.
What you will learn in a Nutshell:
- Why you won’t be able to avoid turning old truths on their head?
- How can AI make your life as a manager easier?
- What can AI do and what can’t it do (yet)?
- Where is the human being better suited?
- What can AI already do better today?
- Which AI tools really make your life easier?
LEADERSHIP & INSECURITY as a FACTOR OF SUCCESS. The music of the future in companies
LEADERSHIP: Until recently, it seemed sufficient for a manager to explore different leadership models in order to find their own style.
In times when the sea was smooth and you sailed towards the setting sun, life on the bridge was still pretty comfortable.
But what happens when storms roll in? When the ever faster changing world leaves little time to navigate to calm waters or a safe harbor?
Keynotes: Roland Buß, Emanuel Koch, Tom Friedländer and Thorsten Jekel
More about Crime Scene Management ...
People long for storm-tested people. Real leaders who make it easy for them to sail close to the wind together. Who see this adventure as a challenge – knowing full well that the time will come for a relaxed sundowner together. Leadership leaves traces – let’s make them visible! Former chief inspector Roland Buß explains in his keynote speech what you can learn from extreme criminal situations in order to be perceived as a confident leader in uncertain times. He reveals what traces leadership behavior leaves behind and how you can focus on anchoring a positive fingerprint in people’s minds.
He is a graduate computer scientist, author, keynote speaker, stage technician & musician: Emanuel Koch talks about how managers can better understand the typical reactions of people in change processes. The waves of change that companies are facing (including AI) are massive. As business models adapt, employees are also increasingly having to adapt. The resulting uncertainty is unfortunately not often visible, yet it is huge. Uncertainty blocks people and paralyzes action – unfortunately just when you need full power in change processes. Emanuel finds many parallels with musicians who have to deal with stage fright, for example. Dealing wisely with UNCERTAINTY becomes a SUCCESS FACTOR – and a dream of the future.
His model of the “three tickets” gives managers a good sense of human blockages and a simple model of how to use the uncomfortable field of uncertainty as a success factor.
And finally! Tom Friedländer is back as musical co-host and moderator on the piano.
Tune in at 11:45 and request your favorite song for lunch before the show starts!

More about Recruit. Retrain. Retain ...
“People don’t apply to us. We apply to them!”
This sentence comes from a successful manager and shows how much the world has changed. Finding and retaining people is the number one core business competence, so it is high time to pay just as much attention to internal communication with employees as to external communication.
“B2E – Business to Employee – is just as important as B2B or B2C ” – says our expert for strategic communication, Bert Helbig. He advises companies, associations and personalities from business and politics on effective communication. And it must also have an internal impact. What do your people think about your company? What are the drivers for satisfaction with you as an employer? What messages do we use to attract good people and what drives people to resign?
Bert Helbig presents effective tools for sustainable employee communication in this session and reveals a deep insight into the minds of employees – based on a representative study across all sectors and regions. Because: Good communication creates flair – but only on the basis of reliable data.
Prof. Leonhard Zintl is a banker & future maker at Volksbank Mittweida and head of the CourageOffensive. With a combination of appreciation, trust and doer mentality, he manages to attract the best minds to Mittweida in Saxony. Even his competitors take their hats off to his employer brand. He reveals how he does this in an exclusive Lunch & Learn interview.
The third course of this virtual lunch comes from innovation expert Dr. Julia Breßler. She will present the exciting topic of “innovation didactics”, which emphasizes that the source of innovation lies in every employee. She will whet our appetite for how we can tease out this innovative power.
Technology and IT expert Thorsten Jekel serves up the latest AI tools for recruiting for dessert: practical and really practicable.

Constructiveness & communication: Why pragmatic approaches are more important in the crisis than ever before.
We are used to making forecasts. Based on past experience, knowledge of the present and estimates for the near future. But in times of crisis, decisions become a lottery. The usual parameters no longer apply. Forces are at work that we can neither foresee nor influence.
Keynotes: Thomas Graber, Bert Helbig
Expert moderation: Katharina Aguilar
More about constructiveness & communication ...
As a result, everyone is looking for stability. Your customers, your employees, your partners. A building contractor and a communications expert will show you what creates the stability we are so desperate for!
In a crisis, you FIRST need “doers and leaders” – not “poets and thinkers”, says experienced construction contractor and author Thomas Graber. We can learn a lot from the construction industry in our everyday lives! In his keynote speech, Thomas Graber shows how he successfully manages highly complex construction projects with the levers of commitment, responsibility and trust. So that you can manage and master the large construction sites in your job.
SECONDLY, we long for constructiveness during the crisis. We need purpose, optimism and a positive attitude. Only those who convey this to their counterparts will win customers, employees and trust. In his lunch keynote, Bert Helbig will show how you can turn the “crisis” construction site into a successful project with the help of constructive communication. He has been developing highly successful communication strategies for companies for years and advises personalities in the media and business world on the power of persuasion.

Regenerative economy: Why sustainability is no longer enough and what innovation means today

That’s why today’s pioneers are going one step further: from a sustainable to a regenerative economy.

#weadapt – AQ instead of IQ!
Acting instead of raging. Why our AQ is becoming more important than our IQ.
Keynotes: Dr. Carl Naughton
Moderation & Mindshift Impulse: Vivienne Dübbert
#weadapt - AQ instead of IQ!
What you will learn in a nutshell:
1. AQ is our central future competence.
2. AQ is measurable and trainable. It pays off.
3. People with more AQ are more change ready, have higher career success rates and a significantly improved sense of well-being.
That’s what’s behind it: In the next 10 years, we will experience more changes than in the last hundred years. This is really hard for our brains to grasp. But let’s be honest! Can we imagine what the world looked like 100 years ago? Can you imagine the change from 1922 to today? And then guess what will happen by 2032? Dr. Carl Naughton has researched this and written a book – AQ stands for Adaptation Quotient.
Part of being human and part of life is the innate ability to adapt. It’s not as if this is new to humans. The fact that we are now eight billion people shows that we are very adaptable. Important in the “war for talents”: in 2014, 91 out of 100 HR managers surveyed predicted that applicants’ ability to cope with constant change will be one of the main criteria for recruitment. Carl says: ” If we humans can empower ourselves through the lens of adaptability, we have a lot of reason to be optimistic.
We should ask ourselves whether we want to be stuck in today until it is yesterday, or rather how we can look beyond today to use tomorrow to our advantage. This session is about how we can realign ourselves and how we can adapt our immediate environment to the new.
Dr. Carl Naughton and Vivienne Dübbert show how the world gets into our heads, what it does there and how we can get rid of the part we no longer need. The pair pack the 60 minutes full of surprising insights and practical tips that will immediately give people more adaptive intelligence.
No more change – that’s enough!
You can look forward to an entertaining, touching and moving hour with two very inspiring personalities:
Sebastian Wächter and Gaston Florin may have heard sentences like this a few more times than you and I: “That’s not possible!”, “How do you imagine that?” or “Forget it! We’ve always done it this way!”. We all hear statements like that a lot when it comes to new ideas and changes, don’t we? People are overwhelmed by the speed and intensity with which change penetrates every crevice of our lives.
Keynotes: Sebastian Wächter
Moderator: Gaston Florin
No more change - that's enough!
Many company employees are currently looking for stability and security. They don’t want one change project after another: Resistance, a bad mood and a lack of motivation are the result. Sebastian Wächter has very good ideas on how we can stop this madness and find a good balance between the demands of managers and the wishes of employees. Gaston Florin creates a magical setting and summarizes the content at the end with his “improv recording”.
