Felix Finkbeiner (*1997), founder of the children and youth initiative Plant-for-the-Planet, developed his vision at the age of 9 during a school presentation on the climate crisis: “Let’s plant a million trees in every country on earth!” At 13, Felix spoke at the UN and called for 1,000 billion trees to be planted. To date, more than 100,000 children from 76 countries have joined Felix’s idea as ambassadors for climate justice. Felix continues to drive the foundation’s work with a great deal of energy and has played a key role in expanding the foundation’s new technology arm. This is how the internet platform pp.eco was created, which enables donors worldwide to donate to renaturation organizations. Various apps launched by Plant-for-the-Planet support the work of hundreds of renaturation projects around the world.

WHO is FELIX FINKBEINER

Felix continues to drive the foundation’s work with a great deal of energy and has played a key role in expanding the foundation’s new technology arm. By 2023, the foundation will have planted more than 12 million trees on the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico. In 2018, Felix was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and in 2019, he was appointed Federal Government Ambassador for the UN SDG15 by German Chancellor Angela Merkel. In addition to his work for Plant-for-the-Planet, Felix is currently studying for a doctorate in environmental sciences at ETH Zurich.

Forests are powerful allies in the fight against the climate crisis. If you want to offer a solution that everyone can join, this is the talk for you. Connecting generations, creating peace. Those who have caused the climate crisis the least are suffering the most. That is unfair. Climate justice is a big word, but together we can achieve it. Every year, Plant-for-the-Planet empowers thousands of children and young people to stand up for climate justice. In my presentation, I inspire your audience to find real solutions. We look at the big picture, at the world. We need global solutions to this greatest challenge in human history.
SDGS - SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS: What is that?

Sustainability, Agenda2030, SDGs… these are not just empty words, but concepts and goals for a better world. In my presentation, I bring these terms to life by inspiring my audience with concrete solutions for a better world. The fascinating thing: Many ideas help us to implement several of the 17 goals at the same time.

When he was nine, he wanted to plant a million trees and became a childish icon for international climate activists. Today, Felix Finkbeiner, 25, has set himself the goal of planting 1,000 billion new trees to combat climate change. He is not afraid of this mammoth task.
Felix Finkbeiner inspired us with his presentation and showed us examples of taking the future into our own hands and thus binding part of the man-made CO2 emissions by planting more than 14 billion trees since his initiative was founded.
One mosquito can do nothing against a rhinoceros. But 1,000 mosquitoes can make a rhino change direction.
